Pursuing Purpose (3)

In the past couple of weeks we have discussed how to discover our divine purpose and also how to rest and find peace in your divine purpose and encounter God therein. Today, we conclude this series by learning how to trust in the direction and purpose God has laid out for us.

Are we lost? Do you know where we are? Those questions can be so irritating especially when you are confident of your direction. They can be humbling too, especially when you secretly doubt the path you’ve chosen. Our response to this question is usually to keep on going even if we don’t trust the direction in which we are going.

“How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: Therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭103‬-‭105‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your desire should be to bring joy to the very heart of God. Obediently pursue God in expressing your joy filled adoration. As your journey through each day, hour, moment of your life, consider the purpose of each breath. Do you trust that there will be a next breath? Do you trust there will be a next beat of your heart?

Let each breath that you take be a reminder that your life is full of divine purpose. Ask the Lord to help you trust in Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the purpose of each breath and each beat of your heart. Remember who you are, a child of the Almighty God, the creator of the universe. His purpose for you is to pursue and enjoy Him. Live that truth and trust it completely.

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: Blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When you ponder on the good things that God has done for you, does it draw you closer to God? Do these memories make you trust in His refuge and His care? Those who trust God lack nothing. You are God’s chosen one, your purpose is to pursue God. When you honour the Lord, His angels protect you and you will never be in need. When you trust Him you will never miss out on anything good.

Remember the prodigal son in Luke 16. Even after he had strayed and missed his way, when he did return, his father welcomed him open-heartedly. No matter how far off you may have strayed from God’s purpose for your life, trust that God is merciful and willing to take you back in His warm embrace. He will not only wipe away your sins and guilt but He will also lead you back onto the path He has designed for your life.

“Because thy lovingkindness Is better than life, My lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭63‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Discern God’s presence in your present reality. What are you doing to pursue Him? How intentional are you being in seeking Him and dwelling in His presence? There is no one who is insignificant in the purpose of God. Ask God to help you trust in Him and His purpose for you. Dare to encounter God for yourself.

With Love, Esinam.
